Stranger Things is one of the most popular shows on Netflix. It’s also been around for a while, which means it’s had time to build an audience and become entrenched in pop culture. But let’s face it: we all love The Duffer Brothers’ love letter to ’80s horror movies almost as much as we love watching Eleven fight monsters in Hawkins, Indiana. So what else don’t we know about this blockbuster series? Here are five things you didn’t know about Stranger Things:

1. Stranger Things was originally titled “The Montauk Project”

The Montauk Project was a series of secret United States government projects conducted at Camp Hero or Montauk Air Force Station on Montauk, Long Island, for the purpose of developing psychological warfare techniques and exotic research including time travel.

The project began in the summer of 1950 and lasted until December 1952. The project included over 25 different experiments with telepathy and other psychic phenomena; some involved human beings while others used animals (euthanasia was also tested). Items recovered include aliens that have been trapped in amber since ancient times; they have been nicknamed “the vanishing hitchhiker” because they disappear during tests when exposed to bright lights such as those produced by flashlights or headlights

2. There are numerous references to the Spielberg classic E.T. in Stranger Things

Stranger Things is a Netflix original series that takes place in 1980s Indiana, but it’s got some pretty obvious references to another classic Spielberg film: E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.

The show centers on a group of kids who find an alien in their town and must protect him from the government who wants to take him back home (and we all know how well that went). But there are also plenty of other Easter eggs for fans of Steven Spielberg’s classic film—including one about Eleven herself!

3. The show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, conceived of the show three years before it actually aired on Netflix.

The Duffer Brothers were not interested in the show at first. They pitched Stranger Things to Netflix in 2014, and it took them four years for them to find a network that would agree to buy the series.

Stranger Things was filmed in Georgia, USA and released on Netflix in 2016.

4. The kids were not allowed to read scripts for episodes beyond the one they were filming for. They didn’t even know about Eleven until episode four.

There were many things you didn’t know about Stranger Things, but one of the biggest is that the kids were not allowed to read scripts for episodes beyond the one they were filming for. They didn’t even know about Eleven until episode four.

You might also be impressed with how closely everything in this show mirrors real life—for instance, there is no scene in any episode where a character says “I’m going to go get some food.” When did we get so used to hearing this phrase?

5. The Duffer Brothers have been working on a third season since at least 2016.

The Duffer Brothers have been working on a third season since at least 2016. They have not said anything about the story line, but they did say that it would be set in Hawkins, Indiana—a suburb of metro Chicago—and that Will Byers would be returning as well as new characters.

The Duffer Brothers also said there will be an opportunity for fans to vote for who should appear in Season 3 by submitting names online before deciding who should star in it (and thus giving them an opportunity to take advantage of their popularity).

6. Stay tuned for Season 3!

It’s not just the characters and the setting that will be returning next year, but also the cast. The Duffer brothers have been working on scripts for Stranger Things Season 3 since at least 2016, but we don’t know what they’re planning to do with all of these possibilities.

They’ve said that they want to focus on one or two characters in each season instead of making an entire cast change every time out; however, it’s possible that some new characters will come into play. If there are any changes made in writing this season (and there probably will), then fans can expect some surprises when it comes time for filming!

Stranger Things is an incredibly popular show, and it seems like it’s only going to get bigger and better. While there are a lot of details about the show that we still don’t know, these five things we learned from reading this article might help you keep up with your favorite characters while they continue their adventures in Hawkins.
