The Beatles were the most influential rock band of all time. They were also the most famous, selling more than any other artist in history. In addition to their music and many classic albums, they had a lot of fun together and made some great movies (most notably A Hard Day’s Night). They even put out an animated movie called Yellow Submarine. The group broke up at the end of the 60s – but there was one reunion that happened ten years later!

In 1986, Ringo Starr and George Harrison teamed up to record a song (“We’re On The Road Again”) for Ringo’s old friend, American comedian and actor Richard Pryor, who was suffering from multiple sclerosis.

The song was recorded in Los Angeles with the assistance of Beatles producer George Martin. It was released on the album “Live On Sunset Strip” in 1986.

Ringo and Harrison both played their parts separately; they finished their work in one day.

Ringo was in LA working with Harry Nilsson on Starfish when the project came up.

You may be wondering, “What was Ringo doing in LA?” He was working with Harry Nilsson on Starfish.

Harry Nilsson was from the US and had become a good friend of Ringo’s. They wrote and recorded several songs together, including “You’re Breakin’ My Heart” and “Jump Into The Fire,” which were featured on the film Midnight Cowboy. The two also performed together as part of John Lennon’s “Peace for Christmas” concert in 1972.

When The Beatles decided to reunite in 1986 for their Anthology show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, Ringo asked George if he would like to help out with some backing vocals. George agreed enthusiastically, saying:

He asked George if he would like to help out – and he agreed.

  • George agreed to help out, and the song was called “We’re On The Road Again.”
  • It was recorded in Los Angeles in 1986, and recorded in one day.

The result was the first time all four Beatles had worked together in ten years.

The result was the first time all four Beatles had worked together in ten years. It was also the first time they had worked on a song together since the 1970s; as Harrison said, “The only way it could have happened is if we’d each done our own part separately.” They recorded their parts separately, too—McCartney in London, Lennon and Starr in New York City.

The end result was this:

They recorded their parts separately, but at Paul’s suggestion, they did it all in one day – each Beatle completing his part as quickly as possible.

There was still one piece of the puzzle missing though: Ringo. He had been in Australia making a movie called The Return of Captain Invincible when he heard about the project and flew back to London right away to record his drum track (the only instrument he didn’t provide himself). He played along with an overdubbed version of George Martin’s orchestral score, which meant that no other musicians were needed for this recording session.

Here is John Lennon’s 5-minute visit to the studio, which was captured on film.

John Lennon is seen in the studio, wearing a white shirt and jeans. He is smoking a cigarette and laughing with the other Beatles. He looks very happy, relaxed and friendly.

The footage is rough and a little gritty (both technically and visually). But it captures a wonderful moment in rock music history.

The video shows McCartney, Harrison, Lennon, and Starr performing some of their best-known songs as well as “Real Love” from Ringo’s recent album with his All-Starr Band. It was filmed on September 5th at Hollywood’s Pantages Theatre, which was packed with fans who had lined up for hours to get tickets to what would turn out to be one of the last times The Beatles would perform together publicly before breaking up again in 1990 after their Anthology albums were released.

It’s really neat to see this recording session.

The Beatles were one of the best bands in history, and they’ve been gone for so long that it’s great to see them back together again.

So, that’s the story of how the Beatles got back together. It’s a really cool story and one that I think everyone should know about! There are so many interesting facts about this momentous occasion in pop culture history, from Ringo’s amazing drumming skills to Paul McCartney’s unique songwriting style. I hope you enjoyed learning about it as much as I did! Thanks for reading!
