It has been reported that Alexei Navalny, the leader of the Russian opposition and a renowned adversary of Vladimir Putin, has passed away while incarcerated. According to the Federal Prison Service, Navalny had feelings of illness after going for a stroll and then lost consciousness. On the other hand, Navalny’s team has not officially acknowledged that he has passed away.

Approximately forty miles north of the Arctic Circle, Navalny was serving his term at a correctional facility. In the past, he had been treated in a hospital after complaining of malnourishment and other maladies owing to abuse in jail because he had been sentenced to 19 years under a “special regime.”

Currently, there is no evidence to suggest what caused his death. The murder of Navalny has prompted emotions from throughout the world. Josep Borrell, the top diplomat for the European Union, referred to Navalny as “a courageous man who dedicated his life to save the honor of Russia, giving hope to democrats and civil society.” Borrell also attributed the blame for Navalny’s death to Vladimir Putin.
